Where Art, Focus, and Storytelling Meet
My Story: From Stage Lights to Server Lights
I grew up fully immersed in performance — acting, music, theater, and dance — a path that eventually led me to earn a BFA in Performing Arts from Cornish College of the Arts. I spent years teaching theater, directing productions, and living the working artist’s life. Along the way, I also discovered a deep interest in systems, logic, and technology, which opened the door to QA engineering and later an MS in Computer Science.
Today, I move between both worlds with purpose. I'm a committed performer and educator, and also an experienced developer and QA engineer. I understand the emotional arc of a performance as well as the structured logic of code — a dual perspective that allows me to create art-informed technology, teach with both empathy and precision, and build meaningful, interdisciplinary projects.
I’m based in Ruston / the Seattle area, with a BFA in Performing Arts, an MS in Computer Science, and a Post-Baccalaureate in Education from National University. I’m available for theater teaching, performance coaching, creative-tech collaboration, and software/QA roles.
BFA - Artist Career
As a father of two boys, I carry more than hope for my own future — I carry the responsibility to show them how art, discipline, and steady work can create a meaningful life. My path in theater teaching and performance has been shaped by years of studying pedagogy for learners from around age eight through adulthood. I love helping performers grow, and I’m especially drawn to teaching classical texts, voice and speech, and stage combat — the kinds of disciplines that build clarity, confidence, and presence both on stage and behind a microphone.
My early artistic foundation was shaped by four years with Seattle Shakespeare Company, first as an intern and later as part of their Education Tour. That experience deepened my respect for classical language, ensemble collaboration, and the craft of bringing Shakespeare to audiences of all ages. I also spent several years performing with The Murder Mystery Company, (https://www.murdermysteryco.com/murder-mystery-party/) doing weekly live, interactive shows that sharpened my improvisation, timing, and audience-driven performance instincts. “Of Mice and Men” Review: (https://www.dramainthehood.net/2014/06/mice-men/) (https://eclectictheater.wordpress.com/2014/07/09/this-week-at-eclectic-theater-improv-conspiracy-presents-triple-entendre-and-of-mice-and-men-closes/)
Outside the classroom, I draw from decades of martial arts experience. I hold a black belt in Muso Kai Karate, the Okinawan-based style founded by Shihan Kiyoshi Arakaki (https://musokai.storeinfo.jp/pages/2095225/what-is-musokai). That training taught me focus, respect, and the value of gradual, continuous improvement — lessons I bring into every rehearsal, coaching session, and class. My work in the digital arts includes voice performances among the Elites in Halo: Reach (https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/welcome-to-reach) and multiple characters in the indie strategy game Antihero (https://antihero-game.com), created by Tim Conkling (https://timconkling.com). These projects strengthened my understanding of how voice, movement, and character shape modern game-driven storytelling.
This blend of classical theater, improvisational performance, martial arts discipline, and digital media allows me to guide students and collaborators through both traditional acting techniques and the evolving world of interactive storytelling. Whether you want to build strong foundational skills, develop greater confidence and discipline in your craft, or explore the intersection of performance, games, and digital narrative, my goal is to offer a grounded, creatively challenging space in which to grow.
I am working toward establishing a school that makes high-quality performance arts education widely accessible — not just quick “industry tips,” but real training, real technique, and real artistic development.
MS -Computer Career
Beginning my technology career in telecommunications, I started as a QA engineer on AT&T’s Legacy Text Messaging system, gaining a deep grounding in network behavior, message routing, and large-scale software reliability. From there, I moved into AT&T’s Enhanced Push-to-Talk platform (https://about.att.com/story/2015/enhanced-push-to-talk.html), where I tested mission-critical push-to-talk communication features, RF-to-IP transitions, and rugged-device performance inside controlled lab environments. I later transitioned to Advanced Text Messaging (RCS/MMS), before returning to EPTT as a CAST engineer supporting automation, regression cycles, multi-device compatibility, and customer-facing validation. Much of EPTT’s backend was powered by Kodiak Networks, whose PTT technology can be found at (https://www.sonimtech.com/kodiak-ptt/) and in their developer materials at (https://www.motorolasolutions.com/en_us/products/messaging-collaboration/kodiak-carrier-integrated-ptt.html.). In between I had such roles as Asurion, Repair Contractor, and Kaiser Permanenete.
My next major role was with the Integrated Visual Augmentation System, or IVAS (https://www.army.mil/ivas/), working as a mixed-reality simulations tester. IVAS brought together augmented-reality optics, soldier-level ruggedization, environmental simulation, and advanced networking in a single platform. The work required adaptability, precision, and the ability to test systems under scenarios that mirrored real-world field use. For me, as both a performing artist and a computer scientist, this blend of discipline, human-centered design, and technical rigor felt natural — and it continues to shape how I approach software, systems testing, and problem-solving today and looking for a good product to join I can be passionate about.
Post-Bachelorette - Educational Collaboration
I’ve worked as a teaching artist with Seattle Shakespeare Company, touring schools across the region and leading classes on classical text, Shakespearean insults, Elizabethan dance, stage combat, and introductory English dialect work. Alongside that, my years performing with The Murder Mystery Company helped me refine my improvisation and character-driven teaching style. I also built a private coaching practice, originally focused on dialects, where many of my clients were transplant actors wanting stronger control over regional accents. Using the International Phonetic Alphabet (https://www.internationalphoneticalphabet.org/ipa-charts/ipa-symbols-chart-complete/) as the foundation of my method, I can perform and teach virtually any dialect within 24 hours’ preparation.
When I look at the performance classes commonly available today, too many lean on “industry tips” — shortcuts that often ask students to anthropomorphize emotions in hopes of winning a lottery ticket. What I offer instead is structured, craft-based training rooted in the discipline of real technique: the Meisner Technique (https://www.meiisnerinstitute.com/what-is-meisner/), Stanislavski’s system of text analysis (https://www.britannica.com/art/Stanislavsky-system), Meyerhold’s biomechanics (https://www.britannica.com/biography/Vsevolod-Emilevich-Meyerhold), classical text study ranging from Shakespeare (https://shakespeare.folger.edu/) to Oscar Wilde (https://www.oscarwildecollection.com/) to Isaac Asimov (https://www.asimovonline.com/), movement and composition approaches such as Viewpoints by Anne Bogart (https://siti.org/viewpoints/), and vocal disciplines including Tete-kitekan / Ten-Teki-Ten style breathing and vocal control (https://www.nihongonomori.com/). I have also trained in stage combat through organizations connected to the Society of American Fight Directors (https://www.safd.org/).
My goal now is to create a digital space that can grow into a full school — a place where performance artists gain real tools, real range, and real technique, not just quick tricks. I want to build a platform where actors can train seriously, think critically, and develop the skills needed to thrive on stage, on camera, in games, and in voice-driven media.
