Teaching & Education
Theater, Voice, and Creative Learning
Teaching has been part of my life since I was a teenager. I work with students from about age 8 through adulthood, using theater, voice, and movement to build confidence, communication skills, and creative discipline.
My Teaching Experience
I began teaching at age thirteen, after earning my black belt in Muso Kai Karate and stepping into the role of karate instructor for younger students. Those early years shaped my approach to discipline, clarity, and encouragement — values that still guide my teaching today.
In high school, I continued teaching through theater, leading games and exercises for new students and helping them break through fear, build confidence, and discover the joy of creative expression.
My passion for teaching solidified when I joined Seattle Shakespeare Company’s Education Tour. For four years, I traveled across Washington State performing and teaching Shakespeare in schools. Our touring productions included Othello, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. After each show, we taught classes in classical text, voice, movement, and stage combat for high school students in a wide range of communities.
Since then, I’ve worked with schools and programs across Washington — including Snohomish High School, DeSales High School, and many others — teaching voice, classical text, and stage combat.
Performance and teaching took a back seat while I pursued a career in technology and completed my Master of Science in Computer Science, but the call to teach never left. I have since completed a Post-Baccalaureate in Education and am working toward multiple state teaching certifications. I am actively seeking opportunities with organizations such as Studio East, Tacoma Public Schools, and other education and arts programs.
Today, I bring my full background — a BFA in Performing Arts, an MS in Computer Science, martial arts discipline, and years of classroom and touring experience — into every lesson I offer.
